This will make you feel ill....

It is an absolute shock to me that any legitimate company doing trade in the hunting industry would have anything to do with the dart tournament. My grandpa always told me; “when you find yourself in a hole, the best thing to do is quit digging.” Apparently “The G5 Outdoors Team” never had a grandpa?

Looks like I'm going to need to find another set of carbon arrows

Any suggestions?

This is so demeaning to the deer, to ethical hunters and to the whole experience of hunting. I’m all for boycotting the sponsors. A petition is a good idea – Hunters Against the WHA, somewhere that it can't be deleted. Show the world that you can't lump us together with people like them. This is just sick! They say the deer will receive immediate medical care. What kind of vet would agree to participate in this?

Where do I sign? This whole thing is just about as sad and disgusting as anything I've ever seen

I'd rather see something like "Moron TV Producers vs Mountain Lions". Get them a high fence around a boxing ring and turn them loose. Idiots.

Well went to eastman outdoors inc. and this is a quote they have at the top of their homepage

FLUSHING, Mich., June 9 – No formal agreement exists between the World Hunting Association (WHA) and Eastman Outdoors, Inc. (Carbon Express®) or Gorilla, Inc. (Gorillatm Treestands). Recent reports indicated that Eastman Outdoors, Inc. and Gorilla, Inc. are sponsors of the World Hunting Association. Eastman Outdoors and Gorilla did meet with the WHA. After careful consideration of the WHA program, Eastman Outdoors, Inc. and Gorilla, Inc. decided to decline the sponsorship offer from WHA.

Seems like we can keep our arrows and gorilla stands according to this. At least someone has made a stand!
Steve.

How 'bout we turn the founder, the producers and the sponsors loose in an inclosure, let us shoot 'em with elephant tranqs and let medical students, nursing students, paramedic students and any kinda student revive them? The survival rate might not be too high, but it would be a great learning experience for both the students and anybody else who had a stupid idea like the WHA or wanted to sponsor it.

G5's heads aren't sharp anyways, so not using them would be a good thing.

Oh, and the new sight, what exactly does it do that any-other quality sight won't?

Glad to see Gorilla pulled back! I agree with Lonewolf, G5's are a pain in the butt to sharpen.

It will be nice when/if people realize that hunting is about the furthest think from a competition!

From the g5outdoors website... Glad to see they pulled support. I really like their heads. The new montecs (this year) are far sharper than the old...

WHA Statement
G5 Outdoors would like to formally announce that we are withdrawing our sponsorship of the World Hunting Association (WHA).

It was our intention to strengthen bow hunting’s foundation by broadening the appeal of archery to the public; however, based on communications, via email and phone, we have received from fellow bow hunters, we have come to the conclusion that the WHA is not the vehicle to achieve this end.

G5 would like to thank all those who have shared their thoughts, comments and concerns with us.

Limb, The first letter they sent to you was an obvious form letter response. It appears that a heavy negative response made them rethink their previous statement. Good work!

Why quit here? Somebody with some know how should set up a web site to gain support opposing the WHA. Maybe we could put a stop to the insanity.

This may be another dumb idea but if States are having problems promoting hunting and these companies are interested in helping out, why not put money into promoting hunting? The so called pros they have to hunt on their tour are in it for the money just as the WHA is. It's all self promotion.

So here's my idea. States and the hunting sponsers, be it Chevy, Ford, any hunting related company, ATV etc. could all donate prizes. They could be randomly drawn by each State after the hunting season ends by using a number on your deer tag you purchased. If they want more revenue and interest this might be a good way to do it. If it's does they want culled out then make it available on doe tags. Names could be electrically drawn at a venue like the Iowa Deer Classic. Most States have something like this each year. There could be Grand Prizes like a Truck and on down the line. You would definitely want to have some outstanding youth prizes as well since we are lacking in getting young people involved. There would certainly be a lot of things to work out but it could work, at least in my head it does.

This was sent to me by NABC (North American Bowhunting Coalition).
Sounds like G 5 backed out.

I need all of you to email EVERYONE you know and have them go to this link

Its an ESPN.COM poll on whether this crap should be allowed to happen or not...and we are losing the poll. Last night we had 76% against...now we are losing by the same margin!!!!!!!! Public opinion is everything in this media driven society and we must get votes cast on this poll today!

A website I frequent started a letter/email campaign with the sponsors this fellow had listed on his website and we got G5 the broadhead mfr to quit sponsorship...but there are others.

Here is what I posted, and I hope others will follow!

"This philosophy could not be any further away from what hunting is all about. I started hunting when I was 12 years old. I learned the traits that were passed down to me from my father and his father. I was taught to respect the outdoors and love it for what it is, and that is NOT a money making market! I am ashamed that something such as this has actually been brought forth by people who claim to share in the same love of the outdoors as I do. This is a discrace to the hunting world, and should NOT be allowed!"
