TORNADOS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Pictures)

Liv:

The buck in my avatar was shot that same day. Fortunately I shot him at noon and was out of the woods by about 3:30. I had gone to town to get a guy with a canoe to help get him out. The guy with the canoe lost his acreage that day shortly after we had taken his canoe back to his farm. He and I left his place about 15 minutes before it hit.

Oh yeah, my treestand location that I shot the buck from was about 250 yards from a different acreage location that got hit and lost a garage and part of the home's roof. My kids were at the grand parent's house that day and I was in for an all day hunt so I might have had a very similar experience were it not for the luck of that buck walking by at high noon. Going to that cut bank would have been my only idea as well. That sounds like a wild story.

LIVE4RUT, I was in my stand just to the Northeast of Woodward that same afternoon that you are talking about. I will agree it was one of the scariest moments I've ever had. I was lucky enough to make it to my truck just in time to see the biggest twister I've ever laid eyes on in person, ripping through the bean field just to the South of the timber I was in. I got back home to find my wife in tears because she had been trying to call my cell, but it was on vibrate. Next time the forcast calls for tornadoes, I think I'll listen to em!

I just got back from the neighbors...what a mess! Both lost everything but their homes! All the barns and outbuildings are gone....scattered for a 1/2 mile! Looks like a bomb went off! Massive trees are uprooted and twiested off like matchsticks. They are both very lucky they didn't lose their homes or worse! My son and I are going over to help with the cleanup after lunch.
I sure wouldn't want to hiding under a river bank when one of those goes thru!

My son and I spent the day helping our neighbors...we worked all day and it seemed like we hardly made a dent! We had to cut trees out of the fence lines and repair the fence to keep the cattle in and then started on things near the house. Imagine any farm...everything gone but the house...scattered over the fields! The pictures you see on the news have a new meaning when one is there first hand. The farmer is in his 80's and his wife in here 70's. They are just overwhelmed...don't know where to even start. They did have insurance but I don't know how much or what it will cover and no matter they still have to clean up. Buildings are blown apart and wrapped around tractors, metal and all that a farmer can collect over 80 years is just scattered everywhere.
They had a trailer house behind there house where I think perhaps one of their sons lived at one time. She had a loom and bolts upon bolts of material and boxes of sewing supplies all in that trailer. He had a wood shop right next to it where he had all types of tools, saws, drill presses...you name it! The twister picked up the trailer house smashed against a huge tree and dropped it upside down on top of the wood shop. We had to crawl in the wreckage and break open windows to get everything out that was salvageable...surprisingly the loom survived! They still have to try and tip the trailer over off from his shop and see what they can save.
These people have struggled all thier life to just get by farming and treasure every possession they have acquired and I feel very badly for them. It will take time but hopefully they can get the little farm back together again. At least they have a home intact...I can't imagine losing that too! I know one thing...I would never want to live in a trailer house...if anyone had been in that thing they would have been killed for sure!

i had a simular experiance also. But i wasnt hunting. I was out at the lake close to Brady Ne, when we saw some really dark clouds. We had the bout out and were having a party when my aunt decided to leave. Because she had a bad feeling about the clouds. So we all got in the car and when we drove around the lake into the opening i looked to my right and i couldnt really belive what i saw. their was 2 huge tornados about 2 miles away from the lake. My aunt took one look at them and we were gone.

she had the car toped out at 110 when we couldnt go any faster. It was a 8 mile drive to town and we made it in 3 minutes. Any way we lived on the outskirts of town so if the tornado's would have lasted about 3 more minutes it would have hit our house. My mom and dad have pictures and video tapes of it so ill try to see if i can get them to send them to me. But weired thing was 2 weeks before we had a wicked storm right ontop of out house. We ran outside and i looked up and their was a huge hole in the clouds. And about 100 yards away we could see the grass swirling(sp). It was pretty cool.

cool pictures... We have had our share of tornadoes like in 04 when our farm was destroyed.. Don't want to see anymore tornadoes in real life lol..thanks for sharing
