Ugly Deer stand

If we are having an ugly deer stand contest this year, I want in.

I shot this photo this morning near where I hunt. Yes, that is a car door. I suppose the window is up on account of the snow.

Maybe they're an ex-poacher and are trying to acclimate to a new technique. Still able to shoot through the window but... legally!

On my farm we took an old manure spreader we hadn't used in years. We built a tower coming up from the bed of it with somewhat of a box blind on top complete with a roof made out of an old half circle tin hog shelter we pulled out of a timber we used to have hogs in. Ugly? Quite, but my cousin and my uncle both shot nice 140 class bucks out of it during shotgun season. I'll try to get a pic of it up sometime.

Oh my gosh, somebody stumbled on to Rack and Headgear's "Honey Hole" stand!! Sorry guys, but I guess the secret is out. It was too good to last forever!!

That's funny. I once told a landowner that if it would make him more comfortable hunting from one of my stands I'd put a truck door in it. I'll have to send him this photo.

I've still got to get some pics of a couple around here for you guys. Some of the finest engineering in the world.

I would have to imagine that a gunshot from a 12 ga. would be pretty loud while you are sitting in a tin can.

The Novenber issue of American Hunter (NRA) magazine had a contest for ugly stands. From old out houses to mobile homes on iron framing. It has been used for hunting blinds. Of course that begs the question if you are hunting blinds then why don't you just walk up to them and bonk em in the head?
