Only to a select few people and I don't think there is anyone from this website on that short list.

IADNR education requirement

In regards to the job education requirement dialog,
Not to burst anyone’s bubble... I am concerned just as you all are... Although, I would like to correct you all on this topic. The last 3 times the IADNR has hired CO’s in 05, 06, 07, and now in 2010, the education requirement has never changed. The vacancy announcements have stated exactly - Graduation from high school or G.E.D. This has been the only education requirement, along with ILEA’s entry level requirements.

It is only HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that the candidate has experience in the fishery, wildlife or natural resource background. And I can attest that without this background (a bachelors or similar experience), you will not be considered for employment as a Conservation Officer.

ED requirment

Bachelors in any of the following… Fish & Wildlife management, Conservation Management, Parks & Rec, Ecology, Environmental Sciences, Biology, Education, Criminology, etc. I have also seen folks with a 2 yr AAS get hired, with Military and some conservation background. Regardless all of these candidates must either qualify or have been certified through ILEA. Trust me it is an extremely competitive field to enter. Rest assured I’m sure it will remain the same.
