Not they. One rep decides to introduce legislation based on misinformation, ignorance and just not understanding a topic. It’s not the party. As usual its explained or opposed through the process and dies. If your tired of republicans I’d be running from democrats.

Connected again with both sides in last week. Meeting with both & I’ll represent Iowawhitetail the best I can ;). So fire away with issues u think are critical, need most attention & are realities to fix or improve.
This is what I rattled off but please add to it. Even if you “traditionally can’t stand one side R/D” - fine… we can ask hard questions & have big expectations for both sides & we the people should be giving them things to run on & metrics we can view later… like “hey- u said u would reduce Nitrate levels. Here’s where u started. Here’s where they are 3 years later_____”
Here was my off top of head thoughts I posted on IW social media (where both candidates did see & respond as well ;).).

FIRST!! PREMISES!!! We have to have both candidates agree on MEASURABLE RESULTS!!! *No one is going to fix every issue or can claim they will solve every issue! We can IMPROVE or solve a host of problems!!! Here's my top issues... please tell me your thoughts!!! 1) we have the biggest opportunity to heal the environment in iowa (the most transformed state in country with only 7% timber left!)... Will you get IWILL PASSED/implemented? 2) we can measure the costs & levels of Nitrates in our water- will you pledge to improve this and how? (I can help on this one! 3) we can look at the increase in our cancer rates rapidly climbing: can you lower or slow this trajectory in 4 years? 4) Will you say NO TO FARM BUREAU?? One of our biggest lobby groups that will fight any issue from buffers to forest reserve to even wanting deer & wildlife in the state! 5) What will you do to rescue the vast amount of rural towns fading away, losing people & often full of drugs? How will you get the drugs out? How will you bring small businesses back? 6) how will you retain young people to stay in the state of iowa? We can measure how many stay & leave- will this trajectory vastly improve in your 4 years and how? 7) my personal BONUS question!… lowa's RESIDENT deer hunting economy at the very basics is shown to be $180M per year. When factoring in other things like "buying tractors, trucks, implements, fertilizer, putting cabins up, land values, etc" it's more like $1B a year. How will you protect this economy & promote access to quality land to kids & everyday working hunter? Do you know that MOST other states are a train wreck for deer hunting & we are target #1 for folks wanting to exploit "the last great state"- will u protect this fragile state?

Other issues: Yes, I know, we have "data centers & education & some other big issues BUT I truly feel this is the pivot point we can finally address the big ones that need urgent help & attention!!!! Add anything you want & let's keep both sides accountable & make them earn every vote!!!.

They attempted to pass a bill that would ban the DNR from buying ground.
This ^^ is/was true...and I didn't like it one bit. Not to give the R's a pass, but this was being pushed from the Farm Bureau. In a nutshell, their position was that any land owned by the state would then not be available for ownership by farmers. I do agree that the R's are not perfect on everything conservation oriented...but...on balance, IMO, the D's have "jumped the shark" long ago on a whole range of things that I could never vote in favor of.
