Zach Lahn

Legal pot is very annoying here in MN. I’ve smelled it more in a couple yrs than in the past 50.

Law enforcement has seen an uptick in driving under the influence as a result.

I won’t use it, never have, & think it’s harmful long term to your mind.

There are 5 or 6 guys my age in my small home town of 2500 —that are literally disabled from a lifetime of marijuana use (possibly had used other stuff use as well) .

If legalizing a plant that grows in the ditches is the straw that breaks this camels back, we were already too far gone. Maybe it was the global policing, decades of forever wars, moving the dollar off gold standard, duopoly, valuing cheap foreign products over American manufacturing, cronyism, 35+ trillion in debt...

This topic shouldn't even crack the top 10 of things to be discussing but here we are.

I couldn’t agree more it doesn’t crack the top 10
So why is Rob pushing it ?

Those who down play alcohol and drug use havnt been impacted by it. If you’re a victim ie a family member falls into addiction , a friend is killed by someone owi (alcohol or drugs), someone you know can’t function ; loses their job over it and starts stealing for their next fix , or your daughter starts f…king her dealer due to no job/no money you’ll change your tune.

Those who support are usually those who indulge. From a LE background I’m telling you it won’t end well. We should talk about it.

The poppy plant naturally grows too. Let’s legalize heroin

I’ll go a step further. Call me crazy but our govt, or those influencing politicians, want to poison your mind, your body and your thought process. Aside from drugs destroying our minds, mental clarity and ability to function other variables are in play to destroy your health, longevity and physicality. Here’s a picture taken on the same beach in 1970 and again in 2026. Wtf happened.

Well stated Windlooker.
Silly how pot still ruffles feathers. Propaganda truly does work.
Hopefully the propaganda works on other voters also. "Just say no" to pusher Sand.

Have had a front row seat to decline in productivity since this thing started. California was bad but at least they were a long way from us. Then the BS started in Colorado. I would encounter the newly transplanted Colorado residents there only to grow weed. Real losers. Dregs. No redeeming qualities. Then I started encountering people who were making a living in Colorado moving back east. “I built houses and made a great living. Now I can’t get people to come to work. All they want to do is smoke weed.” Etc etc.

Then Oklahoma and the Chinese made Colorado look like a mom and pop store next to a Walmart super center.

Some people can handle weed. Some people can’t. I couldn’t care less what the people who can handle it do. Saw a case of cannabis induced psychosis up close and personal. Thats no joke. Making it more available will help no one. Remember when those jokers were going to cure every ailment with thc? Don’t hear that anymore because it was a lie. Good for mental health? Nah.

Guy in my state ran a large dispensary chain. Selling that non violent legal weed. Just got indicted for money laundering. Handed a couple Mex cartel dudes a couple duffle bags of money to load on a Cessna to fly to Mexico. That is real crime.

Alcohol is legal and causes many many problems. Let’s learn from it and not exacerbate the issue by providing more legal means of effing everyone up. It’s not a gateway, it’s better than alcohol blah blah is smoke to cover the money made by the state and investors. They don’t care a bit about your well being. Little common sense.

I have a hard time telling someone thry can't smoke a joint while I sip a cold beer. Some people cant handle weed. Alot of people cant handle alcohol. To each their own.
The problem with weed is it's just too easy. You're either stoned or straight...one hit doesn't equal one sip of cold beer. The longer you smoke the easier it is to function (in your mind) and you build confidence to be around others. It doesn't take two or three hours to uptake enough THC to get you where you're at when you are drinking alcohol. Boom you're stoned. No smell on your breath or stumbling. It doesn't take long before you discover a morning hit can't hurt to have with your coffee. Now you're on your way to being a stoner. Better yet, drink your beer then smoke your weed. It's much easier to accept Ilhan Omar stealing your hard earned tax dollars or Mamdani stealing the greatest city in America when you're perma-stoned...you won't care. Takes the fight right out of you. It's just not a good idea but unfortunately we're going down that one way road, now encouraged by Sand.

^^^This is exactly right

In 1990 the avg thc content was between 1 and 5%

Today that number is between 24 and 27%

In 1990 there weren’t extreme thc potency like dabs. There weren’t high potency vape cartridges easily available to pull out of your pocket anywhere any time.

The addictive potential is off the charts. The availability is off the charts. This ain’t your daddy’s weed.

Unfinished thought I have been stewing on… I have really grown to love bourbon. I get it at Costco. Yet I’m not driving to Kentucky to get it. I’m not even making a special trip to Costco. Yet people burn up the roads and risk jail to make a couple bucks and/or have an unlimited supply of personal weed. Something is different there.

Everything the “legalize it” people told us was a lie.

1) It cures every ailment under the sun

2) its going to get people off prescription and illegal pain meds and heroin

3) It will dry up the black market (It increased the black market by a huge factor)

The BIGGEST LIE OF ALL:

4) It will get criminal organizations out of the weed business. The Sinaloa Cartel was built on semi loads of bad 4% weed. Two things made El Chapo and El Mayo the kings of the cocaine trade: 1) They took over transportation of cocaine from the Columbians who wanted out of the transportation business. 2) THEY USED THE PROFITS FROM HAULING SEMI-LOADS OF WEED TO FINANCE THIS TRANSITION. The rest is history including fent and private armies in Mexico. The Chinese are doing the same thing. The Cubans did it. The Vietnamese did it with BC Bud. These criminal orgs still use weed profits to move onto bigger and better criminal enterprise, more violent and better organised.

They all thank you for your support.

I promise I’m done on this topic now. It is just so misunderstood that I can’t help putting in my two cents.

That's definitely something to chew on @westwind , appreciate the insight. Having never lived in a "legal" state myself, that perspective is important. Maybe the negatives do outweigh any positives. I'm open minded enough to be swayed.

I tend to agree with @IowaBowHunter1983 though. I think it's coming eventually. A 2023 gallup poll showed like 65% overall support legalization, even registered repubs were over 50%. Could the tide swing back? Maybe but I doubt it. Do we want to be the last virtuous holdout? Does it matter? Will the feds legalize before we do anyways?

What scares me today about politicians who run is their lack of living. If you live you’re gonna screw up, that’s wisdom and experience. The media is all over politicians who do right down to their families.

The good candidates don’t run because they’ve made a couple missteps and won’t put their family through it. Don’t blame them. Eff the media.

If you claim you’re havnt made a mistake you’re lying or not living. Both are bad. Who are these guys??? Don’t like either but I’ll vote R.
