    Turkey hunt giveaway

Bravo to you Sir! Wish there were more guys like you around. Hopefully they report back with some success!

    Land prices / insane!!!

It’s very simple, businesses received that money to pay their employees salaries. Majority of these “big” paid businesses didn’t miss a beat during COVID. So they merely did what they were told by their accountant; pay your employees with this money. Take the money you would have done your...

You’ve hunted turkeys for 2 seasons on oh public and you want to argue. Got it! Best of luck this season.

Looking for some southern Iowa spring turkey hunting information

You must not live down here. With OnX, Facebook, Instagram, etc etc. These places have people on them every single day of season. The days of hunting during the week and not seeing people have vanished since Covid. Not trying to sound sour but it’s the truth. You’re going to see guys hunting...

    Circle of life

Yep, myself as well as most of the buddies I talk hunting with are no longer shooting mature does. If a guy wants some meat, it’s a yearling or doe without a fawn (when able) Our deer numbers won’t get back to what they once were without guys doing it themselves on their terms. Seems the...

    Circle of life

Yep, On the farms I hunt, we have it every single year. Some years worse than others. IMO, if the cows are there then the disease is there. I feel like after you get hit hard, the deer than make it through that first wave may have antibodies that allow them to not become infected and or...

    Circle of life

We still haven’t come close to recovering in southern Warren, northern Clarke from the 2019 outbreak. Farms holding 3-4 mature deer are lucky to have one. Seems like areas recover when everyone is on the same page. But when half your deer die and people own land to hunt deer, seems they don’t...

    Snow Geese

I’m with you on the 3.5 BB. I’d shoot 4” if they made em. If they’re close, they’re done, if they hang up, you’ve got a chance. Been a strange strange February. Never seen temps like this, this early. No snow line, no frost in the ground, open water in South Dakota. Going to happen quick...

Honest concern with Youth Hunter bucks shot…

Welcome to the world of social media and having to prove to everyone how big of stick you swing. Theres absolutely zero reason a child who can’t even hold his ***** when he goes to the bathroom should be killing a deer of that caliber. Dad has ego issues or he hates his neighbors.

    EHD

Haven’t personally seen anything in Clarke or Warren. Epicenters from 2019 Devastation. Common sense tells me from seeing 2012 and 2018/2019, these herds are building immunity. I had 60-70% of the herd I hunt killed back in 2019 in these same areas. We’ve been drier than a popcorn fart for...

Baling CRP due to drought- my 2 cents…

I just don’t understand the logic behind this. What’s the point of CRP then? Why not just put it into improved pasture and be done with it? Seems like CRP today is just a bale out for land owners on “poorer” soils. It has nothing to do with soil management or habitat, or these practices...

    Bowstring Problem

Man that makes me nervous. I just took my bow in last night to have strings and cables put on there…....

What would you do with this deer?

He’s survived over 2 hunting seasons on a bum leg, these animals are resilient. If your goal is 5.5 and he’s only 4.5; it appears he’s blown up. He could be a real giant next year. I would pass.

    Broadcasting brassicas

DOT planting deadline is like September 10th or that ball park. You’ve got plenty of time. Wild guys planting turnips south of highway 30 before August. Around 60 day maturity on most turnips varieties. We usually don’t catch a killing frost until late into October.

    New Iowa Regulations

I don’t think this new regulation has anything to do with age of the bucks being reported. I think it’s merely another checks and balance for hunters to be monitored. Say you shoot a 16” main-beam buck on October 16th and then all the sudden your Facebook picture on November 1st is you...
