Trying to Locate a Pole Barn Builder in Southern Iowa

We’re looking to build a standard pole barn for storage and later we’ll finish half of it for a hunting camp. Can anyone point me to a good pole barn builder in southern Iowa or northern Missouri? We would prefer a company close to Wayne County, Iowa.

I’ve found a couple national companies using Google but I can’t find anyone local via the internet.

Any help would be appreciated,

Tim

There is a local guy here in Albia that does quite a few pole barns as well as a company that he works with to do spray foam insulation if that is something you are interested in......shoot me a PM if you are interested and I can give you some contact info.

FYI, For those of you interested, there is a bulletin board/forum dedicated directly to barns at www.BarnsBB.com :-)

One cool thing is that they have a moderator that is a Professional Engineer that peeks in from time to time and answers questions about designs and construction.

Hands down the best pole barn building company in the area is Numark Buildings out of Pella. You will be blown away with quality of their buildings. Their stuff absolutely amazes me. Here is a link to their blog that shows some of their projects within the last year. www.numarkbuildingcorp.blogspot.com PM me if you or anyone else wants more info and I can pass along your info. If you want first class guys give them a chance to give you a price.

Don't know if there's any in your area, but a group of Amish guys built a really nice building here last year. Looks very nice and I've heard they're prices are right. They just weren't there for the part where the Bobcat leveled the dirt for the foundation : )

We ended up having Lockridge in Promise City build the barn for us last September. They sub-contracted it out to an Amish builder in our area. Barn turned out great.

I know this is a very old post, but I have been inactive on this site and in hunting the last 6-7 years with kids in high/school college and am not seeing a breather on the horizon and am thinking of putting up a pole barn with a small modern living area. I am going to contact Numark, but I'm near Bonaparte and unsure if they work out that far away. Has anyone had good experience with pole barn/slab construction in the Bonaparte/Mt. Pleasant area since this post? Thank you in advance

What kind of budget are the people going this route setting? Granted it varies widely, just looking for ballpark numbers on one with "a small modern living area". Enough room for two vehicles and a small boat, maybe a tractor.

I used Lockridge out of Centerville. They did a great job with solid framing, vapor barrier on the ceiling, cement floor, and electric service. From there had Amish frame my living space, my buddy then did lighting, heat and plumbing. I did the finish work.

I just had a 40' x 25' x 12' H building built a month ago near Selma, IA. I sourced the materials from Doud's Lumber, owned and operated by my friend and former neighbor, Mike Camp. I strongly prefer using local suppliers v. big box stores, etc, especially around my farm. I think it is important to keep the $$'s local to the extent possible.

The builder was someone referred to me from Mike and that went well. Tommy Fitzsimmons, and sons, was the builder. If I ever build another one I would be happy to work with him again. He is the Douds, IA, area.

I'd be curious what others think, my situation may be different...I'm just trying to price out what it would take to see if I can do it, but I am contemplating selling my small home in QC and moving down there potentially so my "end budget" may be bigger at the end, but I need help getting the big stuff built while I am not living down there (cement/plumbing/overhead doors etc) and my budget is tighter until I can sell and move. I am hopeful to find someone reputable that can do the big stuff and get it "close" before I can make the move down there. Once I do research the end budget number may scare me away so I'm just trying to get more info and get some estimates from people with high recommendations knowing maybe their estimates may be slightly higher.
