i feel your pain i lost mine that i shot on tuesday evening.... same story good hit had a blood trail then it stopped and we never found him.... hopefully youll have better luck than me......
we did the grid search this morning were going back out after practice this afternoon trust me im not giving up yet i know hes out there.... will find him
so i went back out this morning after my first class around 930.... i found my blood trail again and started following... i got to the spot it stopped and started tracking his tracks...... to make this a short story i didnt find him.... this is the first deer ive ever lost its just been a bad...
it was a complete pass through the arrow was covered in blood.... in my opinion i think i might have shot him in the liver the blood was real dark thats another reason im thinking it was a liver shot
im not going to sleep tonight.... i went out after practice tonight and i wasnt in my spot 10 mins and a big 8 point steps out... he was quartering away from me and my shot was dead on but alittle high so i gave him 45 mins to a hour.... i found the blood trail and followed it for about 75 yards...
i dont think the meat will spoil.... when i lived in california it was upper 90s on most opening days and we never had any problems getting them to a locker before they spoiled but the safe bet would be the ice
ive seen alot of acorns on the ground in the last week but i dont think the deer know because im still only seeing them in the soy beans and on the edges of cornfields... im assuming they hit the acorns at night but im not seeing them during the morning or evening around them
i was just curious ive been deer, elk and goat hunting and once the dirty work is done what do you celebrate with? mine is jim bean..... i cant wait till oct. 1st
im going to school back here... im from california our shorthairs at home are field champions and are the best im looking for a field champion out here for me does anyone know of anyone with them?
im 20 years old and i just got engaged.... im a die hard hunter you name it i do it no matter what in my opinion let them do what they want my future wife loves the outdoors but not crzy about it all but thats fine you shouldnt force them if they want to be apart of what you do its up to them...
