    Last minute archery turkey

It has been a long year of bowhunting for turkeys this year. During the 1st weekend of the season I had a good tom hang up at 34 yards with a little brush in the way. I feel comfortable up to 30 yards so I watched him strut his stuff for several minutes before he moved further off. Then saw...

    Bowfishing action!

Went to the ventura grade yesterday and shot some real pigs! Water is murky in Clear Lake so had to wait for them to come very close to the surface. Day before there was a 15 lb musky trying to jump the grate into Ventura marsh, so had to be sure to identify my target! Lots of activity in the...

    Plans for deer hunt scrapped

I went to a meeting Monday night in Forest City about a planned deer hunt at Pilot Knob State Park. It was attended by around 20 people. It was a open forum format. Many of the people there (including me) thought that it was a bad idea as deer numbers are down in the north Iowa area...

    Bowfishing Setup

I have a old Hoyt compound set up as my carp bow. I use a AMS retreiver, brass round fish arrow rest, and sting-a ree fish points. I don't recommend the wire style barbed arrow as they do not take the punishment from rocks at all. Blast to catch the carp spawning, when it is not uncommon to...
