Bow holders

Tried searching this subject but I didn't come up with anything so....

Any thoughts on favorite bow holders?

I always hang on a cut off branch or a bolt/screw in the tree but then I have to reach around for it. Once in awhile I get busted or a buck is cruising by too fast so I need to change.

Noticed these in Cabelas and there are no doubt others but just curious of thoughts/problems etc.

Just wondering how hard they are to screw in/attach, do they swing out far enough so you don't have to reach, etc.?

Back when I hunted with a real bow I used a long piece of #9 wire bent into a sort of an "S" shape that hung off the side of the seat of my ladder stand. The top of the "S" hooked into the seat and the bottom of the "S" hooked through the top cam/wheel, All I had to do was reach down with my right hand, grap the wheel, lift up and off the hook, then grab the grip with my left hand. I would never have to take my eyes off the deer, nor would the bow be hanging in my way.

These home hade "S" hooks may not work for anything but a ladder stand where the seat is mesh.

I do have one ladder stand and I think I saw some #9 wire in the back of my sons truck... /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I'll give that a try for that stand..thanks Bonker /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Paul, I use a couple of the HME's. They are about the easiest that i have found to screw in to the tree. You can use the U shaped hook to start a hole for the hanger. Makes things a heck of alot easier when you are fumbling around in the dark.

i use the realtree EZ hanger, but the bolts they come with bend easily I have been replacing the bolts with hardened bolts and they work great!!!!

I have the EZ hanger, long version, it rules. Been using it since they came out and am just now having the washers begin to bend. I've heard bad things about the three arm one not being too solid.

I kinda wondered about the three arm one, looks good on paper... /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Maybe I'll try one of each and see what works best for me but it sounds like nobody has any major complaints other then maybe switching to hardened bolts.

Thanks for the advice guys! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I hear Limb has a great product write up for the three arm hanger. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

I have and use all 3 sizes of the ezhanger. Love keeping 2 of the short ones in fanny pack for bowhunting, one for bow on one side and one for the back pack on the other. The long one is great but not as easy to squeeze in pack if pushed for space. I have the three arm and it has to be balanced or the bow's weight will make it turn, freaked me out thinking my bow was dropping to ground a couple times.

I usually just keep 4 or so of the 99 centers in my pack. Small light and disposable. I find the big ones a little cumberome personally.

I have three off them with broken screw-in tips. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

I assume you cut off the broken ones and welded on some new harden bolts? /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

What size of bolt did you use?

I use the 3 arm exclusively. You have to screw it into the tree until it's good and tight but I've had no problems with it. I really like the extra arm because you can move the bow to pretty much any position you want, not only left and right but also closer to or further from the tree. This does 2 things to help me. One is that I like to position it so it's real near my gripping hand. The other is that the bow hanging there helps to further break up your outline. It's like adding a bunch of branches between you and the deer. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

I use the short EZ Hanger almost exclusively... I took a hacksaw and cut off most of the hook so that there is only about 1/4" hook remaining. That way I can run it through the top of my cam and quickly and easily grab my bow and remove it without worrying about hanging up on the large hook.

I love my ez hangers I keep 2 in my pack most of the time the 3 arm for above my head for my bow the 2 arm for my rattling antlers. My most hunted trees usually have one left in them. Go for a walk around the woods look up 20-25 foot and you may find one of the handfull or so I left after a 1 time hang and hunt set up /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif. That being said I have never had a problem with one since they are usually retired to 1 tree, lost, etc. Can't imagine what I did without them.

I use anything from tree steps, ez hangers, and limbs. I to have left many up the tree. There is nothing worse than tearing down the lone wolf, packing it up nice on the badlands, then look up the tree and either see your EZ Hang Hook or your EZ Hanger. I guess that is why I buy bulk /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Anyone ever use the bow holder that clamps onto the front of your stand? I've been trying to remember where I saw it, and it might be kind of a pain to put on and off, but it'd be nice to have it right in front of you at all times.

Three arm EZ Hanger here. Have used it for 10 years with no problems and folds up smaal enough to fit in my fanny pack. Like said before, you do need to make sure to tighten it up tight against the tree or it will sag.

Yes. Same theory as the ground stake holders you use in a blind where you slide the limb between two rubber coated rods with a slight cant and it holds the bow. Only problem was I almost knocked the bow out of it with my knee one time and that spooked me enough to start buying the tree mount units for the most part. I just left mine on all the time. If I put it in the right spot on my climber platform it wouldn't get in the way when sliding the two halves of the stand together for packing. I liked it the most for that application so I didn't have to pack a tree mount.
