Global warming?

I've noticed that a few posts on here ended up at the global warming issue. I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone thought. I personally don't buy it. Let's keep it to a simple yes, I believe it or no, I don't, so it don't get political and personal.

Science has proven that greenhouse gases are trapping more solar energy on the planet and raising temperatures. I absolutely think it's a legitimate concern. We're long overdue to start thinking long-term about how we ulitize the limited resources we have available.

Yes.

FWIW - Was hunting in some timber yesterday over in Iowa Co. and saw a bunch of robins, not just one or two, but a flock and they were heading north. It's like Spring out there.

Most definitely.. and it sux!

No way. Algore has brainwashed a lot of people.

The earth has gone through cycles like this since temp records have been kept.

I'm uncertain.

Age of earth: 4.6 billion years.

What we think are trends might just be ripples from a grain of sand tossed into the ocean in the grand scheme of things.

I'll cut it short at that.....

I'm not sure either but something is going on with the weather patterns, maybe just a shift in the jetstream?

No to man-made global warming. We're just in a cyclical warming trend. Thirty years ago, we were being warned about a global freeze. I listened to a scientist talk about Al Gore's 'facts'. Mr. Gore cited incomplete and random timelines to make his theory look accurate. I just wish that when someone 'shows' how global warming is happening on the news - that they would at least present the other viewpoint. I've yet to hear one in that venue. Sorry - this one gets me riled up.

Ditto. I absolutely think there is WAY too much pollution on the planet, but I'm unconvinced that mankind has managed in 150 years to ruin with technology what took 4.6 billion years (I'm borrowing your stats) to create and has no doubt survived alot worse than car exhaust or a cow fart.
Still, I'm pretty "green" as the hippies like to say, kind of like an environmentalist with a 12 gauge.

If my memory serves me correctly, I believe I read that a single eruption from Mt. Pinatubo released more ozone harming gases than all of the man-made pollution from the entire 20th century.

Hard to imagine, with all the volcanic activity since the creation of this planet, that man could destroy in 100 years what nature couldn't since it's inception.

Is it warmer now than 20 years ago? Yes

Is it warmer because of man and what we do? I dought it.

I just read a report a few days ago that scientist's now believe that bovine flatulance is the biggest threat to global warming. Seriously.

When these greedy pesky little bug-eyed scientist quit coming to the government to fund thier lives, er I mean studies, I would take them a little more serious.

Same with all the countries that support stuff like the Koyoto Treaty. Almost everything was aimed at blaming the US. Is that because we are the wealthiest nation?

I choose to agree that it runs in cycles and we are in one of the peaks right now.

I guess that would be me too.

All I know is that reducing the use of fossil fuels would be great for us and the earth...

The coolest place on earth right now is...
Iowa!

Wind energy, ethanol and biodiesel plants, methane power plants...all of means good jobs for Iowans...and less going to those that would prefer to use the income to...kill us

ISU is at the forefront...nationwide in developing new cleaner sources of energy.

Global warming or not...that is way cool stuff that gives me hope for a brighter, cleaner future

Yes, it is true. If not one scientist the world over disagrees on this crisis, why would we, as laymen, think otherwise?

BTW, Global Warming is not a partisan issue up for debate. Just because Al Gore happens to be the one sounding the clarion call of hundreds of scientists, doesn't make it fiction.
