I have never ran into any bowhunters, ml hunters, coyote hunter, pheasant hunters, that had such disregaurd for other peoples property as this past weekend. I wasn't hunting, just filming a guy (on his own property) and helping another landowner keep people off.
The main statement that I heard this weekend was, "I've hunted this farm for years, your not going to tell me when or where I can hunt." Legally, no, I do not have rights, so all I could do is wait on the landowner to get there and by that time, the 17 man group was gone. That was just the first group.
We called the CO, but sadly he was tied up with other matters at that time.
I am definitly not putting shotgun hunters as a group into this category, I know several groups that do it right, and are good hunters that do everything by the law. But down here, the bad groups outnumber the good groups, and there is not enough law enforcement to keep them from doing it. Hell, most of them wanted to fight over it.
I think bowmakers comment is great. There are bad apples in every group, but when you have that many groups crammed into 2 weeks, you get to see all the bad, and not much of the good. I know of quite a few guys that have had problems with some jerk off bowhunters in the past, so it is not the season, just the people that you deal with.
