mock rub/scrape trees

Same thing here to Joe, really hitting the licking branches. Had two bucks rubbing on it. The does love it. All day long there messing with it.
For a second I thought I had a mock rub for the masked bandits! LOL
More and more pictures each week. Getting close.

Deer are finally showing up now that velvet is gone...looks like the cedar tree is popular while the rubbing post is starting to heat up. No scraping, only rubbing...

Here is a deer I believe is 4.5....I call him double 6 as he was a 6x6 last year...

This year

Couple bucks spent many shots fighting in front of the camera...

Gladiator, I may be wrong, but that deer sure looks older than 4.5 to me. I would guess him a lot older. JMO. Nice deer though.

He does to me too, however, he is bigger this year than last....lots! I think he just has a genetically big body...

I agree with you 100% and he has a kind of grey face, but, again, is much bigger in the body and rack this year....so I'm not sure....wish I had some more history with him.....

Had my first close visitor. The does are loving it but most of the bucks are still weary. Had one small one rub on it for awhile. Can't wait to see what happens when it heats up.

Not a biggin, but he's mature and probably needs to die this fall. I have pics of this buck for 3 years now and he hasn't grown much. Cool to see he's using my tree though. You can see the tree is getting shredded, but it's been mostly by little guys so far. He's a good one for the woman to kill if he will show in the daylight. I've only seen this buck once in daylight hours and all of my pics are at night. We shall see.

I pulled cards this weekend from two cams that were overlooking my two new "rub trees". Some observations...there was little to no actual rubbing on the two "fake" trees, but there was a lot of interest in the low hanging branches and each tree had a decent scrape started next to it and of course, under the best low hanging branch.

I would call the experiment a success, because it is clear that deer were attracted to the trees and we got a fair number of pictures, but no rubbing. FWIW though, we normally do not see a lot of rubs on our place, some, but not commensurate with the number of bucks we have roaming around. Maybe our deer have low testosterone counts or they are just more mellow than some others! :D We see way more scrapes than rubs in our area, and I have seen other areas where it seems like every third tree is rubbed, go figure.

Also, going by time stamps on the pics...the first nice buck showed up just 1-1/2 hours after I set the one tree in its' hole. Maybe he was hiding nearby and watching me and ran in once I left. Lastly, we had a good number of pics in the daylight hours too, so hopefully they keep it up, because both trees are within easy bow range...if you get my drift.

You would be hard pressed to dig a hole to put a tree in on my place. Rented a trencher to get power to my garage. Trencher died many times trying to dig into solid concrete clay. Finally when got two ft down,,dust all the way. Drought still goes on in parts of SE Iowa.

I've had a lot of pics of these 2.5 yr olds walking by my mock rub tree, and maybe one pic of a 1.5 yr old actually rubbing on it. The doe's like it though.
