Opinions on the "Lovstuen" story....

I have been following the "Lovstuen" story but am a little confused. If any one could tell me were I could go to read the article that Iowa Game and Fish produced I would appreciate it. From reading the post it seems that is a little confusing to grasp how it all unfolded.

Thanks

THE BEAST IS DEAD!! LONG LIVE THE BEAST!! way to go Tony , there isn`t anyone on this site, or that hunt deer that wouldn`t have done the same if they had a chance!!

Finally read the story in NAW. There is no doubt the deer is harvested legally, and a big congrats should go out to Tony and his family. However, I do understand some of the scrutiny. In short, it seems to me that a family dispute, regarding who should harvest the deer and when, was resolved by having Tony shoot the deer. That said, legal harvest, world record deer, congratulations.

I wasnt even gonna bring this post back up but i finally found the story and got to read it.And it really bothered the hell out of me.

First I want to say that I understand the bucks killed legally. The extensive use of trail cameras doesnt bother me.I dont find anything unethical at all about it.

But, why did they bring Tony in just to shoot the deer? And what exactly is it he learned from this hunt{if you wanna call it a hunt}I think the part in the magazine that really summed it up was where they said Tony was just the trigger man.

He apparently had the deer scouted out for him.He didnt load his own gun.He went to school while his uncle looked for the deer. His dad didnt even have the stomach to go back out and look, after they wounded the buck he in effect gave up.Thats a good example to set.Why wasnt he include in more of this than just pulling the trigger on the deer. The artical makes it seem like this 15 yr old kid was really put on the spot and under a lot of pressure by 3 very obsessed grown ups.

And thats the other thing that got me.These guys were really obsessed, to the point of kinda screwing each other over. Why wouldnt you tell someone the buck thyd been looking for and thought theyd killed was still showing up on your trail cameras?According to the artical that guy was looking for this "dead" buck for 6 weeks while his brother was getting pictures of it.And how about the two that "moved" the deer around the third guys stand so he wouldnt have an oppurtunity to shoot it because of the screwed up antler? What was that all about? What kind of examplwe are things things to set for a youngster learning how to hunt? Its ok to screw up someone elses hunt as long as the antlers involved are big enough?

Dont get me wrong, Im glad the kid found his deer and Ive been defending them against all the rumors of the deer being poached since they got him.But after 3 years of scouting, backstabbing each other, etc.. why put all the pressure on a young kid and not involve him in more of the hunt? hell the kid isnt hardly even mentioned in most of the artical.Maybe Im wrong but I dont think this story quite rings out what taking a kid huntings really supposed to be about, it actually kinda shows the uglier side of what a big set of antlers can make people do

Unfortunately I have not read the article, but I am curious after reading these posts if the kid will even hunt next year. He was the "trigger man" on this deer - first year deer hunting I believe. Wonder if he is actually a deer hunter or just a one time shooter.

Kinda too bad the way this went down. Hopefully he appreciates it.

I know I am much more proud of deer I kill with the bow then anything I kill with a gun. To me a P&Y with the bow is almost more of a trophy then a B&C with the gun. Guess because I work so hard and spend so much time to get one with the bow. Wonder how the kid really feels about hunting and the harvest???
