We’re Asking for Prayers and Support

That has to be so frustrating finding out that kind of news and having to play a waiting game to start your attack. Prayers sent.

Continued prayers Scott. We serve a miracle working God!! We have seen it first-hand with my brother-in-law's father. I'd be happy to pass along information if it could help at all. He had a very grim outlook for his battle with lung cancer (also a non-smoker) and they've tried some experimental trials and the success is unbelievable.

Time for an update. Things are moving along but seems slow but that’s how it works. The biopsy was December 19 and on the 22nd as we were expecting it was confirmed she has lung cancer. They got her in to an oncologist on the 26th.
Tomorrow more tests and scans and a brain MRI next week to see if it’s there. So far it’s only in her right lung. They have discussed with us on what they want to do for treatments after all the tests are in. The waiting game gets old but should know the attack plan in a couple weeks.
Side note she is retiring this Friday and I’ll be doing the same probably early summer if the treatments they want to do becomes reality !
I haven’t been on here much but hope that changes in the future as things become more normal for us.

I do have a fun thread that I’ll start later this summer! Thanks again for all the support on here and from the many texts and PMs!
GOOD LUCK and keep us informed! A BIG group of us here thinking and praying for you both!!

Wish you and your wife well! Looking forward to the "fun thread" this summer......

We will continue to keep you both in our thoughts. Hopefully it is contained to the one lung as the options will open up for sure. As Brent said, there are some amazing new clinical trial drugs out there for Lung Cancer right now, make sure to inquire about all those options as well. Even a simple call to MD Anderson and they will usually review the records.

A lot has happened since the last update and I’ll have to give an abbreviated update.
She went through a 4 week chemo regimen this winter.
After the treatments she went into respiratory failure cause the cancer didn’t respond to the treatments and grew into her windpipe!
The DSM hospital said they could do nothing for her!
Iowa City said not sure what we can do for her but we’ll take her.
She couldn’t go life flight due to the weather so she had to wait for a DSM ambulance that was equipped with a special oxygen machine.
Fortunately a doctor was only there that day and said she had a 65% chance that he could clear the air way and it worked.
She spent 8 days in the hospital and radiation started the next day.
My kids and I decided to switch her care to IC.
After dismissal we drove to IC every day for six weeks and even a couple weekends for treatment.
A few days ago she and a scan and meet with all her doctors and they said a miracle happened the cancer has shrunk considerably!
She will start immunotherapy once a month for a year along with quarterly scans and will have an outpatient procedure on her throat.

In March I was diagnosed with a form of Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. I decided that I would also go to IC for my care.

The doctors said my disease is a lazy form of Lymphoma and as of now they will just monitor it and if it does act up I’ll start treatments.

I think that about covers the last six month's.
Thanks again for all your prayers and support!

Good to hear your wife’s news, praying for continued positive outcomes for her. Good work getting to a world class center for treatment. It’s night and day what is available at research centers compared to local hospitals.

i will continue to keep you and your family in my thoughts

Scott,

The best word in your update is "miracle". I don't at all understand why God answers some prayers with the gift of a miracle and other times he doesn't (or at least not how we think the miracle should happen). But, I do know he is worthy to be praised either way. Praise God for this miracle of healing and for your "lazy" Lymphoma!

Continued prayers for more miracles in your life and for God's peace no matter what happens in the future

Blessings brother.
