    Couple of SD Bucks

Wow, I was thinking he was more around 125"-130" especially with his long brow tines. This is definitely not a "target" buck... he just happens to be the only one I've caught on film so far. I know there are some big ones in the area... especially after the corn starts coming out.

    Couple of SD Bucks

After developing roll after roll all summer long of does/fawns and one small buck in velvet in July... I finally found something to look at. I stalked up to within 20 ft of this small buck friday night... I saw from a distance that he had a goofy rack and wanted to see more. He was too small to...

    Quiz for the day

No, Kentucky does not surprise me at all. I found a state by state listing of all time Boone & Crockett entries dating back to the beginning of B&C... you'd be surprised were MN ends up. http://www.boone-crockett.org/bgRecords/records_whitetail.asp?area=bgRecords

    1st ever pics

I bought 2 used Leaf River 35mm trail cameras this spring and just developed the first roll of film off both of them. Unfortunately, on one camera I got 24 pics of nothing - think there were some weeds that were moving around and triggering the camera. On the other, I got about 17 pics of...

    What will this guy score???

181class... I am seeing a score closer to what you were thinking, I am going to guess mid to high 120's gross and low to mid 120's net. I am an official measurer for B&C and P&Y and can usually guess within a couple of inches - but it makes it harder when they are in velvet...

    Trip To South Dakota

RiverBttm Boy... yes, the corn palace is still around, however there is talk that this might be the first year that they will not be able to completely cover it with corn - due to the drought. Deer hunting in the Black Hills is getting much better - they put an antler restriction in place 3-4...

    Trip To South Dakota

Its amazing how much traffic there is here around Sioux Falls when August roles around... not just the week of Sturgis, the whole month. It does great things for our economy, Sturgis and Pheasant Hunting keeps hundreds of businesses open, especially out west.

    Predator Pecking Order.....WOW!

I have been working with photoshop everyday for the past 8 years and am pretty proficiant with it - if this is a photoshopped pic it was done unbelievably good... very hard to replicate what is seen here Especially the lighting... notice how the light source is hitting the back foot of the fox...

    Not to stir the pot...but........

The common base rule is used in both B&C and P&Y. I haven't seen either buck in person so don't have much to say about how each was measured, but I do know the common-base rule well and have had several judgment calls when measuring bucks that this rule pertains to. Basically, the...

    Prints at the Deer Classic

is this it by chance? I wasn't at the classic but this is the only one I can think of with a Lone Wolf Treestand. If it is... his name is Micheal Sieve and you can by the prints through any Wild Wings distributor.

For Those who missed the Classic (pics)

Just talked to my buddy with the deer, it was not the largest non-typ at the classic... but it did win the Firearms Non-Typ category! Also, the left side shed from last year won the NASHC Non-Typ contest. The shed from last year went over 120"! So, even though the deer grossed 230", he was going...

For Those who missed the Classic (pics)

Did you guys combine booths with Oldbuck this year or what? I see him in that last photo and I wonder if he's selling IW or his prints. Looks great!! Does anybody have pics of the winners/runners-up of each category? I had a friend bring down a non-typ and was wondering how it held up. I...

    Cold Buck

Ya, that's kind of what I thought. My buddy's email this morning said they have been hunting this deer for 2 years and it is in between Hawarden and Alcestor. Although the area where I shed hunt down by Hawarden has produced 2 bucks close to that big in the last 5 yrs... this year the landowner...

    Cold Buck

SDbuck, I've got the photos if that's what you want to see... I just got an email this morning from a buddy who said his buddy's dad is the one that took the pics and told me where he took the pics at, not too far from one of my shed hunting spots... not sure I believe it.

My late season spot & stalk buck

I've never hunted public land, but I've been down to a few public spots this time of year hiking and photographing. Some beautiful areas, but I have heard it gets hit hard. I seem to hear every year of a couple of nice ones being taken out of NH, but so far this year I've only measured one 155"...
