    SICK OF HUNTING!!??!!

I had an ugly feud going with a neighboring property owner last fall. The guy was a complete tool...and it really made me mad that he was doing all he could to ruin my leisure time. Somehow I was supposed to feel guilty for hunting ground adjacent to his because he had invested time and money...

    Gas & oil prices

I'm of the opinion that Bernanke's economic policy and the weakened dollar have more to do with this than who's in the White House. While I don't believe that a Texas oil man in DC has nothing to do with the energy markets thriving, our current price levels are due to the dollar being worth...

    Dream Lake

Does anybody posting here stand to lose some hunting ground to this project? Or any other ground for that matter? I have no ties, nor any interest in either side. I'm just curious to see if there is anybody with a dog in the fight who posts here. It sounds like they are wanting to flood some...

    Calls

Just my $.02 Buy an array of diaphram calls now and find the one that fits you best. I think Quaker Boy diaphrams are best, followed closely by Primos. Anyhow, turn on the Outdoor Channel and start calling against the turkey hunting shows on TV. I taught myself how to call with a diaphram...

    270 Acres "Enough"????

270 acres is a lot of ground. Deer don't know property lines.

    Luminock Question

I've used Lumenock's for two seasons now. I have yet to lose an arrow, and I know of one this year that I probably would have had to give up on if it hadn't been for the lighted nock. The cool factor is also a big plus. I can still see the laser beam heading toward the buck I shot this fall...

    Taxidermy Tipping

I always round up to the next $25 when I leave the taxidermist or bow shop. The guys that do my work are all working 40 hour jobs somewhere else...and both are just darned good guys. When the time comes that I break my bow during the rut or need to drop something special off at an odd hour I...

Any of you ever heard of this happening?

Actually, the PMA is the last place I'd post one! Supposin' I was a thief and wanted to know where the hardest of the hardcore hunters in Iowa would post the biggest bucks that were killed...I'd gladly pay the nominal subscription fee just to have that resource available to me. The guys in...

Any of you ever heard of this happening?

This is the exact reason I don't post harvest photos online. Not that I have much worth stealing, but it's just not worth the risk.

    Slug help

I'm shooting the cheapo Winchester rifled slugs out of my smooth bore 870. They should be about $8 w/ tax for a box of 15 at your local Wally World. My 870 hated Remington slugs. I've had the best groups with the Winchester's. I'm good out to about 75 yards with iron sights.

    When to hunt all day?

If it weren't for the moon I'd have started this week. In 4 or 5 days I think things will heat up a lot, especially during shooting hours.

    Stolen stand issue, opinion

I think the bigger issue here is that you don't directly know the landowner. If it were me I'd be on a semi-regular speaking habit with the guy. You never now when a new son-in-law or smooth talking neighbor could swoop and in and take over your hunting access. Build that relationship and...

    Governor Non-resident archery tags

I saw Bo Jackson's story last year. He hunted up in north central Iowa. He couldnt' connect on a buck so he harvested a doe and then processed/butchered all the meat himself. If the guy is willing to do that for the opportunity to hunt in Iowa he can come hunt with me any day.

One up the guy. Cut the tree down that his stand is in and take the wood AND his stand.

    ***Blair Witch Project!!!***

I'll 2nd the big bull. I've got 500 yards of pasture to cross and I refuse to get farther than 10 feet from the fence. I can't wait until the corn in the field next to the pasture gets picked!!!

    deer skinned gloves?

It's true...I've got a pair from a guy that makes the rounds every fall and winter. If I can find his flyer hanging up I'll relay his name. FWIW, he always makes a stop or 2 at Farmer Nick's at the Victor exit on I-80 this time of year. His flyer always hangs right inside the front door...
