    Taxi Service

If anyone here is from MN, Randy Tetrick from TK Taxidermy is well worth a look. He is located in the southern twin cities. His prices are a little high compared to others (Last time I heard, I think he was about $650 for a shoulder mount), but does some of the best work Ive seen. He does...

    Bow Shops in SE IA?

Hey guys- Just moved to Southeast Iowa about a month ago, and Im curious if there are any good bow shops around. I do most of my own work, but Im looking for a place to shoot in the off-season, buy supplies, shoot new bows, etc. Thanks in advance..

    killer B decoy

I have a killer-b that I have pulled a few birds in with. I bought it before last season, so I have only used it for one season so far. I think the paint on the head looks pretty good, and the smaller body size makes it less intimidating. I run a jake fan on him and have his beard cut down...

    Salt Blocks.

I use pellet water softener salt as well. I used to make a big mixture of different minerals and stuff, but I did a bunch of research and have found numerous studies that have shown that mineral supplements do nothing for antler growth. Deer just need the sodium to counteract the high...

What binocs do you like for bowhunting?

Another vote for Vortex or Zen Ray. I personally use Vortex binos, but have a friend that has Zen Rays and he loves them. One of those brands are far better glass and value than some of the bigger brands like Leupold, Nikon, or Bushnell in the same price range.

Some people take for granted what they have.

Respect is something that is getting tougher and tougher to find these days..I grew up in a rural area, so it was a little different than the big city I live in now - It seems it makes a big difference when you dont know everyone, and your actions are only affecting others you dont know from...

In the Market For A Recurve, Need Suggestions...

Depending on how much you are looking to spend, there are a ton of awesome recurves, but some will cost you as much as a compound. If you dont want to spend that much money and just want to kinda try it out and see if you like it (like I did), the Samick Sage Takedown is an incredible bow...

where was the biggest whitetail deer shot in Iowa

Are the deer on that list only certain bucks that were entered or something like that? Obviously the Lakoskys (and others) have killed alot of big deer that do not show up on that list, so Im just wondering why certain deer show up on there and certain ones dont...

    Schaffer Opposition Slideout Rest

I have never used one, but my shop told me that after awhile, the spring tends to wear out and they become slow and really loud - but like I said, that is just hearsay. I have heard really good things about the new trophy ridge revolution..

Best Binoculars in the $200-300 range

IMO, Vortex and Zen Ray are going to give you the best glass for the money in that price range.. I think Zen Ray might just edge out Vortex in the glass quality, but the Vortex warranty is better. Never dealt with ZR's customer service, but Vortex's is top notch!

QAD Ultra Rest---anyone here with an opinion??

Ive had an HD on my bow for the last 3-4 years and have never had a single issue. I will say that I have had much better luck with fletching clearance when I set it a little tighter than what they suggest. I like to have mine come to the full upright stopped position with about 2" left in my...

    22 mag

I have the bolt action savage in a .17HMR and I really like the gun. Cant speak for the marlin though. I would just think clip-fed would be faster and easier than tube-fed, and that accu-trigger is sweet!

    Blackhorn 209 vs. Triple 7

Talked to Thompson Center the other day and they said I should have no problem with the BH209 in my gun, then today I just got an email from Blackhorn stating that they cannot recommend it for my gun since its not what they consider a sealed ignition system. Im not exactly sure what that...

    Blackhorn 209 vs. Triple 7

One more question- If I am currently using 100gr of pyrodex (2 pellets), do I use 100gr by volume of the BH209 (which is actually 70gr by weight)? Basically, are the pyrodex pellets measured by weight or volume? And if the pellets are measured by volume, do I still use the same amount of the...

Perfect..Thanks for the help! I have been trying to call Blackhorn and cannot get an answer, and I emailed them a couple days ago too and havent heard anything back from them..kinda ticks me off  Anyways, Im not sure if my muzzleloader is a magnum load muzzleloader or not..What does that...

    Blackhorn 209 vs. Triple 7

Hey guys- Thinking about switching to the BH209 for next season. I am still using an old box of pyrodex pellets, and I cannot get good groups at all, so Im going to switch and figured now would be a good time to go with the BH209, but I have a couple questions... You guys talk about cleaning...
