I totally support the pulling back of regs!!! Would ABSOLUTELY love the regs from 25 years ago. big time!!!! Just absolutely do not support the number of tags available changing for one group without a change to other stuff across the board. One group takes all the new regs/technology they cheered on and yet doesn’t realize the repercussions of their previous actions. Take all the gravy and leave the crap for everyone else.. thats my issue.
Well for a fact I refinanced a farm in 2020 and it appraised for 2850 an acre and in 23 I sold that farm for 5800. I paid double in 2015 for what my neighbor did in 2010, im the same age as you and it wasn’t easy buying land in my 20s just like it wasn’t easy for anyone at any point in time.
You named Scott Buckley, have you asked him if he would also be willing to give up a tag or are you just assuming he wouldn’t. Just because someone supports this bill doesn’t mean they wouldn’t support getting rid of a third buck tag all together. From what I seen most everyone that supports this bill would also be willing to support one that makes it 2 bucks for everyone, but that’s not on the table right now.
You did well!! Thats awesome! That is a success story everyone should be happy about and realize their good fortune. It shouldn’t be an opportunity to prevent others from the chance at trying the same thing. Covid probably gave you a boost without a doubt. That is not what made land skyrocket since 2008ish or so tho. Worldwide financial problems/commodity prices did, lots of us benefited big time from that. It doesn’t give us an excuse to change the rules and make it harder for the next guy tho

I guess I just don’t understand how getting rid of a LOT for tracts under 40 acres is making anything harder for the next guy.

Not blaming them one bit but to compare what an average guy could buy today vs what they could 25 years ago is crazy! I’ll take across the board regs any day. Ok would you be good with everyone getting 3 tags to make it even or maybe anyone that owns piece of real estate getting a landowner no matter how much the acerage? I think the 40 acres came about because 2 seems like a complete joke, in all honesty I don’t know of many 40s that could withstand 2-3 bucks taken off of it yearly without totally destroying the quality. I do agree with you that we should all be willing to give up something for the betterment of the resource and if there was a bill that did that I think there would be support from the majority of people that own over 40 acres.
In 20 years will you be happy when some propose you need 500+ acres to qualify for LOT privileges and then accuse you of being selfish if you disagree??? I’d support just about anything as long as it’s across the board.. not a fan of cherry picking winners and losers then calling them selfish to silence their dissent.
