I dont think ive chimed in yet on this thread, been following along though.
I'm in favor of the bill as proposed. As little as two acres getting a LOT tag is crazy to me. Its been repeated by others, "what is best for the resource?" I dont think people shooting up to three bucks a year because they have some timber on their acreage behind their house or have a little 2-8 etc acre lot somewhere is good for the resource.
Do I think this is that big of deal or one of the biggest issues facing Iowa's deer herd? Absolutely not. But, IMO it is something that will help. Biggest things to me are we need to cut the number of doe tags by a lot and need help with more/protecting habitat.
I'm a landowner. And in about 20 years of hunting I have only ever shot more than 1 buck in a season one time. I shot two a couple years ago. Its usually zero or one. Take away my landowner tag, Im okay with that.
Booneriverbucks....you been drinking today? You okay? Your posts really seem to go all over the place and sometimes seem like they contradict themselves. Ive not seen anyone on this site, or really anywhere that is older talking down to younger guys. By the way, I am younger than you, and a bought an 80 a couple years ago and I didnt have anything handed to me. I would agree it is harder than it may have been. But hard work, extra hours, side gigs, investing, living within your means and it can still be done.
